On Sunday 10th July Oliver Wilkinson completed the final 10km swim in front of family, friends and supporters. Ollie completed the swim in style with a stylish 25m of butterfly, which received a rapturous response followed by three cheers for Ollie from all those watching.
Ollie has swum a total distance of 300km in 30 days, each 10k swim taking approximately 2.5hrs. Ollie set himself the challenge to help raise much needed funds for the lido and to raise public awareness of our valuable community asset.
Ollie dedicated each of his 30 swims to either a significant person or group which you can read about on his blog at http://olliechannelswim2009.blogspot.co.uk/.
Ollie has set up a Justgiving page to encourage people to donate directly to support Sandford Parks Lido. If you haven’t donated yet you can still do so using this link – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/30marathonswims30days.
We are extremely grateful to Ollie for committing his valuable time and energy to the lido and for the significant sum of money he has raised, which at the time of writing stands at £3,403.08 including gift aid. The funds raised will be directed towards the much needed refurbishment of both the male and female changing rooms. The refurbishment of the changing rooms will ensure family provision and access for all at the lido.
The lido is hugely grateful to Ollie for his amazing achievement and contribution.
