1989 Repair

In 1989 work was completed which involved the repair of the deepend expansion joint and the removal of the top screed of pool flooring.
By the early 1990’s the Lido was under considerable threat again. Cheltenham Borough Council had carried out a feasibility study of the complex including a radar survey of both pools. The radar survey confirmed that both pools were on unstable ground and the repairs had failed. Structurally they gave the main pool a life expectancy of only ten years.
The report suggested that the complex would require a minimum of £250,000 for essential maintenance. By 1994 the future was very uncertain for Sandford Parks Lido. It was time to call in the supporters once again, only this time a new way forward had to be found to prevent certain closure.
