In common with many other not for profit organisations we rely heavily on the goodwill of volunteers to achieve many of our goals and objectives.
We would like to highlight some of the many individuals and organisations that have provided their time and energy during 2016 at the lido.
Our lido is set in four acres of ground and the greenspace is mainly managed by Paul Knight and his excellent team of Choppers but the detailed planting and pruning that provides colour and character is organised by some hard working individuals. Mike and Debbie Hawkes, Leslie Sheppard and a recent addition Phil Seamark will often be seen around the site with a pair of gloves and a gardening tool.
A thank you to Simon Westgate from Mira Showers who arranged a Kohler Mira Volunteer Day at the lido on Monday 18th July. The group of volunteers made up of the NPD Electrics/Fittings and Internal Sales teams spent the day clearing away a lot of debris and plant growth from the rear of the café complex.
Most of the sporting events at the lido including the Mira Showers Triathlon, Cheltenham Triathlon and Aquathlon’s require a lot of volunteers to marshal. This can include lane counting, directing and encouraging competitors or handing out water to the thirsty participants. Many of our volunteers help us on a number of these events and we thank them once again for their continued support.
This summer Pershore Swimming Club continued their use of the lido, making the most of our 50 metre training facility. They were keen to be able to safely practise backstroke which involves the use of flags across the pool. With hard work from Ian Cummings backstroke flags were sourced and donated by Speedo UK and poles were installed into the pool deck by Heeks Brothers Builders. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen.
To all of the volunteers, whether mentioned here or not the whole of the lido team thanks them for their efforts.
